Reading Catcher in the Rye

I started it Monday but was out all day yesterday and also Monday evening and today (mostly with my boyfriend, admittedly, not my so-called social life) so still have a couple of pages to go

but I’m really honestly enjoying this book!

It’s so good. I like how he digresses (“DIGRESSION!”) but you’re still completely wrapped up in what Holden’s got to say. I like how he adds ‘old’ in front of everyone’s names. I like his red deer stalker. I like the way he says ‘goddam’ to almost everything. But I won’t analyse and go into detail because you don’t need that on your dash. Read the goddam book and you’ll know what I mean. Boy, you’ll know what I mean, sure.

Holden Caufield is a brilliant character.

I like the feeling of reading a book through the night, until dawn. That feeling, that silence, that says no one else is there. Only you and the book. Or better yet, only the book.
